Why "Clod"?
It's a clod of dirt. Real, down-to-earth servers you actually control - as opposed to "the cloud" where everything is abstract and you never know what you're going to pay.
A clod is also a dumb person - which, let's be honest, you probably are if you're here to vibe code with AI instead of learning to program. But don't worry, so are we.

Who's Behind This?
Hi, I'm Josh. That's it. Just me. No VC money, no crazy marketing army, no corporate BS.
I'm the guy who gave you DreamHost back in 1996. I made a bunch of money on web hosting and bitcoin. Now I'm building this because I'm obsessed with what AI can do for regular people.
I built ClodHost for myself first - I had dozens of parallel Claude coding projects going at once and needed a better way to manage them. Then I realized: everyone should be able to do this.
The whole point is to remove all the barriers that used to stop people from building their ideas: hosting, tools, coding knowledge, server management, expensive AI credits, crazy cloud costs. We use Hetzner on the backend and put everything behind Cloudflare's CDN. Trust me, it's enterprise-grade. You really don't need to spend thousands a month on infrastructure.
I might just keep this thing free forever. It's just so amazing - I want the whole world to be able to do what so few used to be able to do: develop their ideas on their own and make them real.
